Oh, the studying!! Its so exhausting!! …

Oh, the studying!! Its so exhausting!! I have a chemistry test tomorrow and my brain is complete mush. Anyway, this week will be really hectic to say the least. On monday I have that exam I just noted above, Tuesday I have an interview to volunteer at Harborview Medical Center, Wed and Thurs I have to study like a mad crazy person, then lastly I have both my math and chemistry finals on Friday! Whew, not that you wanted or need to know that, but its out there… LOL. OMGoodness, I just looked at my calendar and noticed that my finals are scheduled for the nineteenth, that only leaves me one day free to study! And I though I was screwed before! Wish me luck.

    Let the Race Begin

Let the race begin. The race to a child that is. I cant help but think that the faster we finish our paperwork, meetings, and training the faster DSHS will give us a child to foster then adopt. But I dont think it works that way. All the people at DSHS Ive talked to say that they changed the way the program works, its now more like an adoption agency and they are trying to match prospective parents with the right child. Apparently they changed it because they wanted to have less children “returned” so to speak. Obviously I think this is a great idea, I want to be placed with our child, but I dont want it to take forever.
Now, having said all that, Im sure that you may get a chuckle out of the fact that I mistakenly went to a very important meeting/orientation for the foster/adopt program on the wrong day, one day later than it was. A meeting that is only held once a month and now we have to wait until April 8th to go again. Needless to say I was very upset, my husband and I got into a minor argument in the parking lot of DSHS, and he was yelling, “great! they’re really gonna want to give us a kid now!!” And I couldn’t help but think that we really looked like we fit in, fighting in the middle of the DSHS parking lot. LOL 😀
Anyway, Ive mailed all our paperwork and all the meetings and classes are scheduled, and written down correctly, now the renovations on the house begin! Wish us luck!

    Whats New?

So, heres the low down. My hubbie and I have been TTC with donor sperm off and on for the last 5 years without success. We were very seriously considering having his vasectomy reversed with the new procedure they have called vasovasostomy, which is about 98% effective, but the cost is to high. For the last year I had given up on motherhood, I was even convinced that I didnt want children anymore! Well all those TTC’ers out there know thats not really possible!! LOL

Then one day, seriously one day, I started thinking about having a child again, but I knew it would not happen biologically. So that evening I went online and started looking into the foster/adopt program we have in our state. The next day I got a call to discuss our options, and later that week we were in an orientation and the ball has been moving forward, or should I say hurtling forward ever since.

Right now we are in the application/licensing part of the process. Our liaison/advocate says it takes about 3-6 months to complete the process and be placed into the pool of prospective parents. This is actually very fast, so we are somewhat frantic trying to get everything ready, including our house, which we are hoping to do some renovations on to better accommodate a child. We are hoping for a little girl from birth to three years old, and I am accepting donations to help with the costs associated with preparing for her arrival. Anything will help, money, clothes, infant/toddler toys, advice, anything is appreciated. I always thought I would feel a little odd asking for donations, but as those of know the journey to motherhood can be long and tedious, we get broken down, and sometimes the only way up is getting help from a stranger, and our babies of coarse!

If you would like to donate please contact me and I will send you the link for paypal, if you want to donate anonymously you can go to paypal and use my email address, vrmarin@me.com, to send a donation also. Thank you again, and please let me know if theres anything I can do to help you through your journey 🙂
